At Parovel’s we expect an extraordinary vintage, although complex to manage. In general, this year we will have a significant increase in production, almost 10% more than last year, mainly due to a higher bud fertility and a present health status much higher than in 2014. The harvest which is about to begin has two major strengths: the health of the grapes and the vegetative balance of the vines. By contrast, the high daytime temperatures, which we had from June onwards, have forced the vines to close the stomata already in the early hours of the morning to reduce water losses, hence the slow increases in sugars that are occurring. This means that the hot summer has left a very positive “footprint” that the coming weeks will not erase.
However, we found that the vegetative growth and the progress of the phenological phases are naturally slow down, so no early harvest.
The beginning of the harvest will be on "normal" dates . Our 2015 vintage will therefore be in the first week of September for the Whites and the last week for the Reds.
The annual rendez-vous" with Mother Nature has now started and we will be happy to let you taste in a few months time the energy and fullness that this new year will give to our wines. See you there!
